I served in the Army.

Catarino R. Gracia, 77, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Cato, as he was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Olmito. He worked for many years at Valley Ice and Fuel as a foreman. Cato loved spending time with family and friends but his true passion in life was hunting something that he passed on to all children. Cato was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

Cato was preceded in death by his parents: Catalina Ruedas and Felipe Gracia; 2 sisters, Francisca Lopez and Ramona Saldaña; and a brother, Jose Gracia.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Cato is his loving wife of 56 years, Elva Lopez Gracia; the 6 children that were his pride and joy: Leticia Piercy and her husband Christopher, David Gracia and his wife Janet, Daniel Gracia and his wife Alexandra, Rene Gracia, Catarino Gracia Jr., and Elva G. Rangel and her husband Carlos Jr.; 9 adoring grandchildren; a sister, Guadalupe Gracia; and a brother, Roberto Gracia and his wife Yolanda. Cato will also be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews and his extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Darling Mouser Funeral Home with a rosary service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Visitation will resume at 10 am on Monday, Nov. 27th at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 .m. on Monday, November 27th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. The VFW Funeral Honor Guard will render military honors at the graveside.
