BROWNSVILLE - Adelaida L. Tamayo, 90, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Tamayo loved the art of painting; was a past member of the Brownsville Art League; she loved to dance, especially to her favorite song "New York, New York" and always encouraged her sons to further their musical talents and endeavors.
Adelaida is preceded in death by her husband Henry A. Tamayo; her parents, Jesus Lopez and Beatriz Lopez; her sisters, Chalila L. Yzaguirre and Lupita L. Garcia; and by her brother, Fermin Lopez.
Adelaida is survived by her children Robert (Cathy) Tamayo, Gloria B. (Meme) Benavides, Landy (Cindy) Tamayo, and Rene Tamayo and Mike Meenan; grandchildren Meredith (Vincent) Tamayo Morales, Ricky (Amber) Benavides, Ryan (Patty) Tamayo, Joey Benavides, and Nikki Llamas; and great-grandchildren Peyton and Harrison Benavides and Adelaide Tamayo Morales.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Mrs. Tamayo's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of the staff at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent and compassionate care provided to her during her stay the last 6 years.
