Alberto Dorsett, Sr., 79, made his final transition to his heavenly life on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
Beto, as he was known by most, was a lifetime resident of Brownsville, Texas where he was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Each of those roles were carried out with sincerity and love, Beto carried out his life treating everyone he met and knew with respect and remained a humble servant to God and his family.
Beto was a 1955 graduate of Brownsville High School. Beto worked loyally in the lumber company industry serving as the bookkeeper at Hughes Tuggle Lumber on Fronton St. for over 25 years and at Gloor Lumber where he retired in 2011 after over 20 years of service. Many thanks to the Gloor family and his fellow coworkers who cherished and valued our father.
Beto and his wife were blessed to have their humble home on Tulane Ave. where in the company of wonderful neighbors they raised their families and together welcomed children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren with beautiful memories along the way. Thanks to the Gomez, Canul, Orizaga, VelaCamargo, Soto, Garcia, Parker, Salazar, and Lopez families who all together formed our extended family on Tulane.
Beto is preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Faustina Betancourt Martinez and his parents, Charles Mayorga Dorsett and Guadalupe Martinez Dorsett.
Beto is survived by his wife, Aurora Benavides Dorsett his children: Albert Roanne Dorsett Jr., Sylvia Carlos D. Garza, and Adrian Marco A. Sanchez Dorsett and Luckyhis faithful gardening companion Lucky a DachshundBrownsville Animal Shelter Rescue.
Beto is also survived by seven grandchildren who each had an adoration for him, and elven greatgrandchildren that recharges him with positive energy upon each meeting.
Beto was the oldest of eleven children and the first to reach heaven. He is survived by 6 sisters and 4 brothers: Teresa Rogelio Martinez, Ester Reyes, Oralia Victor Ortega, Jesse Grace Dorsett, James Yolanda Dorsett, Henry Mary Dorsett, Lucy D. Mike Medina, Mary Alice Torres, and Emily Dorsett.
Beto is survived by many nieces and nephews, each with fond memories of their Uncle Beto.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with Deacon Felipe Trevio, his childhood friend, will be reciting the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to be serving as his pallbearers are his grandchildren, Robert Alviar, Carlos Garza III, Robert o Carlos Alviar, Salvador Dominguez, Joe Ramirez, and his godson, Henry Dorsett Jr.
Honorary pallbearers include his brothers: Charles, Jesse, James and Henry Dorsett his nephew, Juan Esparza, and his neighbor and godson, Francisco Orizaga Jr.,
