Alberto "Beto" Garza Jr.

Albert Beto Garza Jr., 52, of Brownsville, our beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, teacher, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, March 16, 2009 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico as a result of injuries sustained in a fatal bus collision.

Beto, was born in Brownsville on March 23, 1956. He had been a resident of McAllen for a number of years. He was the theater arts instructor at Economedes High School in Edinburgh, Texas for the past 19 years. While there, he shared his love for theater and enriched the lives of the students that he so deeply cared about.

Beto had a passion for life that was unequaled. Everything he did, he did with gusto and there wasnt anything that he wasnt willing to try. He loved cooking, baking, and bar-be-queing especially for his family and friends. He loved traveling and was able to travel to many places including Spain and Japan, but he was especially fond of traveling into Mexico. Beto will be dearly missed by everyone fortunate to have known him.

Beto was preceded in death by his mother, Rita G. Garza and by his sister Enelina Linda Harris.

Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his father, Alberto R. Garza; his siblings: Diana Nelson and her children Jennifer and Jimmy, Ruth and her husband Manuel Balderas and their children, Jacob, Crystal, Joseph, Norma Parker and her children Richard Christopher, Lupita and her husband Arthur Nelson and their son Eric, and Severo and his wife Margie and their children Victoria and Micaela Garza; his brother-in-law, Jay W. Harris and his daughter Amanda.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:30 in the evening on Thursday at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
