Alejo Maldonado, 82, beloved brother, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville with his family at his side.
A native of Curillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Alejo had been a resident of Texas for 61 years. He resided the greater part of his life in Galveston working at John Sealy Hospital. He had been a resident of the Villa del Sol for over 20 years. As a resident there, he was a member of the residents association and also the associations president. At their annual Valentines Day celebration, Alejo was chosen King in 1996, 1998, 2000 thereby entitling him to represent Villa del Sol in their Charro Days float.
Alejos passions in life were spending time with his family, cooking, and reading poetry. He was a jokester at heart, and truly relished making those around him laugh. He will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jos Angel Maria Antonia Maldonado; 2 sons: Reymundo and Pedro; a grandson, Albert Maldonado, and 5 brothers: Raul, Gerardo, Jos Angel, Pedro, and Idelio Maldonado and a sister, Ernestina Chapa.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory are his sister Amelia Cisneros from Brownsville; his children: Cristobal and his wife Sylvia from Dallas, TX, Daniel and his wife Minerva from Brownsville, TX, Alejo Alex Jr. and his wife Catalina, Linda and her husband Luis Delgado and Rosie Maldonado all from California; 12 grandchildren: Daniel Maldonado, Cris Maldonado Jr., Yleana Maldonado, Michelle Maldonado, Pedro Pete Maldonado Jr., Emanuell Maldonado, David Maldonado, Charles Flores, Elizabeth and her husband Martin Yrra, Evelyn Maldonado, Marylyn Maldonado, and Max Maldonado; 14 great-grandchildren: Alexander and William Maldonado, Melissa, Martin Jr. and Anthony Yrra, Nicole, Ashley, Charles Jr., and Delaney Flores, Eden and Rose Maldonado, and Albert Andrew, Melinda, Melanie Maldonado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Cristbal Maldonado, Daniel Maldonado, Pedro Maldonado Jr., Danny Maldonado, Cris Maldonado Jr., and Lus Delgado are honored to be serving as Alejos pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
