Alejos Ayala Vasquez, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, and uncle, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family.
Alejos was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Alejos had a fulfilling and rewarding life as a businessman having had successes as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated a fleet of taxis dba Vasquez Taxis and later Yellow Cab. He invested his hardearned monies in caring and providing for his loving wife and lifetime partner, Eudelia Lela and their four children. He invested well in real estate and owned several residential rental properties which he managed until he retired in the early 1990s. Alejos
handed the reins of his hardearned real estate and financial holdings to his son, Rodolfo, to maintain and manage.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Pedro S. and Antonia A. Vasquez his sister and brothers: Andrea, Valentin, Pedro Jr., and Manuel Vasquez.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his wife of 70 years: Eudelia Vega Vasquez his children: Yolanda Julio Rodriguez, Alejos Alex Palmira Vasquez Jr., Rodolfo Rudy Angie Vasquez, and Alfredo Fred San Juanita Vasquez his grandchildren: Michael Lisa Vasquez, Yvonne Curtis Southard, Melinda Greg Aalberg, Rudy Rosie Vasquez Jr., and Claudia Yvette Robert Hernandez Vasquez and 7 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12th and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. The family will begin to greet family and friends at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the Vasquez family requests that memorial gifts in Alejos name be made to The Lord of Divine Mercy Parish Building Fund, 1350 Northridge, Brownsville, TX 78526.
The family extends special thanks to the health care providers who took loving care of both bedridden loving partners, Eudelia and Alejos, on a 24 hour basis at their home. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Sylvia, Lolis, Mariana, and Cristina. All medical and healthcare was coordinated by their loving son, Alfredo who was assisted as well by their loving and devoted daughter, Yolanda.
