Alfred Kenneth Young, Jr., 80, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Alfred was born in Johnstown, PA on October 10, 1929. At the age of eleven his family moved to OK City. He graduated from Classen High School in OK City. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. In 1955, he married Edna June Crow in Atlantic, MO. They moved to OK City and lived there for fortythree years until Junes death. Shortly, thereafter he moved to Brownsville, TX and met Janice Huebner. They were married on December 9, 1999. He was a member of the OX5 Aviation and the Portway Baptist Church in Brownsville, where he was very active in the food bank.
He is survived by his wife, Janice HuebnerYoung, a son, Edward Vickie Young, a daughter, Carol Chris Bendict, two grandsons, John and Jay, a sister, Elaine Mueller, two brothers, James Melba Young and Howard Young, four stepchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10 a.m., with a service to begin at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Presentation of the U.S. Flag will be done by the American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul J. Leal, Jr. All services will conclude at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Portway Baptist Church Food Bank, 2000 N. Minnesota, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
