Alicia C. Garcia

Alicia C. Garcia, 88, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May, 1, 2015, at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Alicia was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a devoted wife and mother who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe Gomez and Manuel Cantu Lapierre; and her husband, Mariano Garcia Chapa.

Alicia is survived by her children, Mariano Garcia III, Sandra A. (Richard) Lizardi, Carlota (Dwayne+) Tyner, and Lupita Garcia Holsch; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.


Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 and continue through 6:30 p.m. in the West Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Alicia's name may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
