BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Alicia G. Peralez, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, the 8th August 2023, at McAllen Heart Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was eighty-nine years of age.
Alicia was a native of San Marcos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She immigrated into the United States in her early teens and resided in Brownsville, Texas most of her life. Alicia was married to Efrain Peralez, Sr. and together they celebrated sixty-four years of marriage. They had nine children and provided for their children with so much love, joy, and respect. Alicia had a strong Catholic faith and brought up her family to be close to church. Her love of life was always obvious as she would always take time to greet everyone with so much joy and shared her beautiful smile. Alicia loved to travel and was ready at a moment’s notice to head out to explore our beautiful country, especially the farmlands. She loved all sorts of animals, especially her farm chickens. She made the best fresh caldo de pollo and flour tortillas! She was also ready to play Bingo and if someone mentioned “casino,”she was ready! She will be dearly missed.
Preceding Alicia in death was her husband, Efrain Peralez, Sr.; her two sons, Efrain Peralez, Jr. and Patricio Peralez; her infant daughter, Aurora Peralez; her daughter and son-in-law, Maria Elena and Romualdo Nieto; her parents, Encarnacion Garza and Felipa Leal Garza; her sister, Juanita Gonzalez; and her brothers, Ricardo Garza and Santiago Garza.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Maria de la Luz “Lucy” (Tony) Sanfilippo, Margarita P. (Miguel) Medina, Alicia Peralez, Rosalinda P. (Daniel) Saucedo, and Viviana P. (Ruben) Amaro; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alicia will also be missed by her sister, Celestina Garza; her brothers, Margarito (Sylvia) Garza and Jose (Ernestina) Garza; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 10th of August 2023 between the hours of twelve noon and nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 11th of August 2023 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Road, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
Her grandchildren Efrain Peralez, III, Andres Peralez, Irmalinda P. Meza, Patricio Peralez, Jr., Gilberto Peralez, Miguel Medina, Jr., Mark Medina, Daniel Saucedo, Diego Saucedo, and Tony Sanfilippo, Jr. are honored to be serving as Alicia’s pallbearers.
