BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Alicia Torteya Viada, 80, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 31, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Torteya Soto and Rebeca Valdez Torteya; by her sisters, Olga T. Valdez and Oralia Torteya, and by her brother Ignacio Torteya.
Alicia is survived by her children: daughters, Lourdes Viada, Ana V. Virgen, and Patricia (Jose) Ramos; sons, Raul and Jorge Viada; by her grandchildren, Andrea and Alfonso Virgen and Andres and Luis Ramos; a great-granddaughter, Lucía Acosta; by her sister, Yolanda T. Urtusástegui, and her brother Hugo (Arely) Torteya; and by a sister-in-law, Alicia M. Torteya, and her nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all who cared for her, especially Dr. Karkoutly, Dr. Sivam, Dr. Pettorino; and nurses: Ruth Lerma and Susan Guerra; and Veronica Tapia, Marta Flores, and Angel Gutierrez.
There will be a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:00pm on Friday, September 04, 2020 at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church, 9178 Tomas Cortez Jr Street, Olmito, Texas 78575. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 05, 2020 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
All services will conclude at the church. In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, please consider donations in her memory to your choice of charity.
