Amada R. Brown

Amada R. Brown, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

Amada was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Amada was devoted to her family. She worked for many years at Bates Cleaners. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family, traveling, playing Bingo, and going to the casinos.

Amada was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Amada was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee Brown Sr.; a daughter, Carolyn Brown Valle; a son, Calvin Lee Brown Jr.; her parents, Juana and Perfecto Rodriguez; 3 sisters: Maria Celeste Rodriguez, Beatriz Yassay, and Santa Cruz Rodriguez and 2 brothers: Rumaldo and Jose Rodriguez.

Left to cherish Amada’s memory are her children: Marilyn Brown Hill, Joyce (Billy) Brown Sanders, and Walter “Wally” Brown; 5 grandchildren: Lisa Marie Parra-Rehman, Steven L. (Delia) Hill II, Nicholas T. Hill, Christopher and Mathew Brown; 1 great-granddaughter, Olivia B. Hill. Amada will also be dismissed by her 4 brothers: Agapito (Minerva), Perfecto (Sylvia), Seferino (Alicia), and Francisco (Alicia) Rodriguez along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September, 17, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 9 pm with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. Committal service will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Family members are honored to be serving as Amada’s pallbearers.
