BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Amalia G. Balli entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 17th of July 2020 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of ninety-eight. She was born to her parents, Jesus Erasmo Guevara and Luisa Longoria Guevara on September 11, 1921 in Mexico.
Amalia was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. A devout Catholic, she was a strong woman of faith who never gave up. She liked being well-dressed with elegance for all occasions. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, volunteering at her church and spiritual reading, and also loved dancing with her beloved husband. After retirement, she took some short trips and joined the Amigos del Valle. Amalia was a self-sufficient, talented, and independent woman of faith and will be missed for her many talents and wisdom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wenceslao Balli; her son, Carlos Guadalupe Balli; grandson, Omar Gutierrez Balli; her parents, Jesus Erasmo Guevara and Luisa Longoria Guevara; by her siblings Celia Gutierrez (Leopoldo +), Alfredo Guevara, Berta Aguilar (Doroteo +), Carlos Guevara, and Lucila Rivas (Dr. Fernando Rivas +); and by her step-mother, Romana Mendoza Guevara; and brother, Erasmo Guevara Mendoza.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children Javier Balli (Gerri), Olga Medrano, Sonia B. Gutierrez, Irene B. Silva (Mateo Silva, Jr.), and Conrado Balli (Senorina); eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Maria Aguilar Guevara, Elvia Ortiz Guevara, and Celia Lozano Guevara, as well as extended family members.
Visiting hours for the immediate family will be held on Wednesday, the 29th of July 2020 between the hours of nine o’clock and eleven o’clock in the morning, with a recitation of the holy rosary to be held at ten o'clock Wednesday morning within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will follow at eleven o’clock in the morning and a private graveside service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Services will be livestreamed at www.darlingmouser.com.
