Ana Lucila Farias Pea, 92, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, November 23, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Laredo, Lucila was a direct descendant of one of Laredos founding families. She married Gustavo J. Pea in 1941 and they moved to Browns--ville in 1947 when Gustavo became the export manager of a Mexican cotton company. The export-import business gave them the opportunity to travel extensively Europe, Asia, and Australia. Lucila was a marvelous cook and as a result of her travels, her family enjoyed Paella and many other special dishes she discovered abroad.
Lucila was a member of the Pan American Round Table Part 1. She was also a member of the Wednesday Study Group. She served our community as a board member at the Moody Clinic and Camille Lightner Playhouse.
Lucila was a loving and devoted wife and mother of 6 children, including triplets born at Mercy Hospital in 1948. She dedicated her life to raising her children and providing a loving home for them. She was an excellent role model for her children and grandchildren. She was always supportive of all of their endeavors. For years, any time an altar boy was needed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lucila was called and regardless of the hour, she always drove one or more of the boys to church to serve. Countless were the plays, open houses, parades, sports activities, etc., that she attended for her children and grandchildren.
Lucila was preceded in death by her parents, Fabian and Juanita Farias; 3 sisters, Francisca Farias Gonzalez, Hortensia Farias de Casso, and Margarita Farias Newton; and 2 brothers, Fabian and Juan Francisco Farias.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her husband of 66 years, Gustavo Jose Pena, from Brownsville; her children, Gustavo J. Pea, Jr., from Brownsville; Oscar E.
