Mr. Andres Garcia, 84, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered peacefully into the glory of his eternal life on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at his daughters residence in Brownsville, TX surrounded by his loving family.
Andres, a native of Tampico, Tamps., Mexico, had been a resident of Brownsville since 1971. After several years here, Andres proudly became a naturalized citizen of our country. He was a devoted husband and father and he was totally dedicated to his family. After retiring from life on the road as a truck driver, Andres enjoyed being a homebody enjoying a good book, watching TV, but especially being around his family.
He recently related to his family, that he was thankful to God for the long life he had led and the many blessings God had bestowed upon him. He believed in and imparted in his children the importance of: family and family unity, education, and a strong work ethic. Andres legacy will carry on as his children will strive to instill those same values to their children. Andres was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.
Andres was preceded in death by his parents four sisters and three brothers.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his beloved wife of 58 years, Genoveva G. Garcia his children: Maria Esther Jorge Alfredo Hernandez, Jose Luis Amparo Garcia, Genoveva G. Gomez, Andres Janie Garcia, Marina Garcia, Jose M. Cindy Garcia, and Ana Luisa Pedro Barrios eighteen grandchildren twelve greatgrandchildren one sister, Columba Garcia and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Our Lord of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 650 East Alton Gloor Blvd. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Jorge A. Hernandez, Julian A. Hernandez, Charles M. Garcia, Basilio Gomez III, Andres Garcia, and Timothy Timo Smith are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandfather. Jose A. Garcia, Christian A. Gomez, and James J. Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Andres name may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc., Rio Grande Valley Region, 222 E. Van Buren 303, Harlingen, TX 78550.
Andres family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Seasons Primary Home Care, Odyssey Hospice, Rio Med 21, and Dr. Manjula Ruguthu for the tender and compassionate care with which they ministered to him. May God continue to bless you as you minister to others.
