BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Angelica G. Peña entered into eternal rest on Monday, the 10th January 2022 in the comfort of her residence in Brownsville surrounded by family. She was eighty-four years old.

Angelica was born in Brownsville, Texas on the 23rd of March 1937 to her parents, Domingo and Abelina Saldana Garcia. She later met the love of her life, Emilio, whom she married on the 7th of September 1957. Angelica retired from the Brownsville Independent School District after fifteen years of service. One of her favorite pastimes was bowling. She will always be remembered as unique and one of a kind, who was caring and nurturing towards those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Her husband, Emilio C. Peña; parents, Domingo and Abelina S. Garcia; sons, Emilio Peña, Jr. and Jesus Peña (Gloria); and sister, Griselda Garcia Medina, preceded her in death.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Elisa P. Lopez; grandchildren Andrea Cortez (Ruben), Jesus Peña, Jr., Christine Ruiz (Ramiro), Erica Peña (Carlos), Stephany Lopez (Orlando), Micheal Lopez, and Emilio JR Padron; great-grandchildren Ryan, Kristen, Jesse III, Nathan, Jeremy, Victoria, Ramiro, Angel, Layla, Eric, Anthony, and Hailey; and three sisters and one brother. Also surviving her are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of many friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 13th of January 2022 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

A chapel service will commence on Friday, the 14th of January 2022 at ten o’clock in the morning. Interment will immediately follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
