BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Anita Ramírez Silva, 97, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, the 27th of January 2025. Born July 25, 1927, she shared 77 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved spouse, Zeke. Together, they built a legacy of love and family.

A true matriarch, she lovingly raised five children, nurturing them with her boundless compassion and gentle guidance. Her legacy grew with 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and held close to her heart. Her kindness knew no bounds, her words were always uplifting, and her presence was a source of comfort and light. She saw beauty in everyone she met and brought warmth into every room she entered.

Anita was a woman of grace and selflessness, the anchor of her family and a cherished friend to many. She lived a life devoted to love and service, never speaking an unkind word and embodying the very essence of goodness. Her wisdom, laughter, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of the family. 

Preceding Anita in death were her parents, Daniel and Rosa Pequeño Ramirez; her brothers, Alberto Ramírez (Cecilia+) and Armando Ramírez; and her sisters, Maria R. Fernandez (Ramon+), Maria Guadalupe Garcia (Domingo+), and Rosa P. Ramos (Jesus+).

Survivors include her husband Ezequiel “Zeke” Silva; five children Ezequiel II (Shirley) of San Antonio, Hector (Rosaura) of Austin, Cindy S. Martinez (Joe) of Brownsville, Patsy S. Schanbaum (Bob+) of Austin, and Daniel (Lettie) of Brownsville; and her 12 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 30th of January 2025 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 31st of January 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers are Ezequiel Silva III, Marc Silva, Nicholas Schanbaum, Christian Martinez, Eric Silva, and Ramon Fernandez, Jr.
