Mr. Antonio Tony Oliveira Jr, 53, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend entered unexpectedly into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, April 15, 2013, at his residence in Brownsville, TX.
Tony, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, was the youngest son born to Antonio and Gloria Oliveira. After graduating from Hanna High School, he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees.
Tony was a devoted husband, father, and brother. Even though he was the youngest, he was always there for everyone in the Oliveira family. His generosity to family and friends was boundless. Tony was a fervent advocate for children, serving over the years as a board member for CASA, West Brownsville Little League, BOYSA, as well as volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and several other youth organizations. Tony will be remembered as Coach to several hundred of Brownsvilles youngsters because of his commitment to and involvement with youth sports and activities.
Throughout his life, Tony dedicated himself to civil service like the many Oliveira generations before him. As a Cameron County Precinct Chairman, and volunteer on numerous public office campaigns, Tony exemplified what it meant to be a public servant. His love of music, fishing, and family knew no bounds, and his culinary skills especially on the BBQ grill was often on display. Tony also loved working with his hands and was proud of having rebuilt his home on his own. Tony was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Tony and Gloria Oliveira.
