Armando Torres, 68, of Brownsville, our beloved father, brother, and uncle entered into glory of his eternal life on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Valley Grande Manor in Brownsville, TX surrounded by his loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Armando was a proud veteran of the Army of the United States having served his country during the Viet Nam Conflict. While in the Army, Armando was a paratrooper and also drove a tank. Armando served for four years and returned to Brownsville after being honorably discharged.
Armando with the help of his GI Bill, returned to school where he studied welding. He worked as a pipefitterwelder at Marathon LeTourneau for a number of years. In his spare time, Armando enjoyed playing pool. Armando was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.
Armando was preceded in death by his wife, Lupe Ochoa Torres his parents, Jose and Isabel Torres and two brothers, Alberto and Jose Torres.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his daughter, Connie Sean Garcia of San Antonio, TX his siblings: Lidia Lillie Dr. Leonard M.D. Pomper of Chicago, IL, Arnoldo Ana Torres of Corpus Christi, TX, Ninfa Ted Lopez of Missouri City, TX, Linda Raul Garza, and Perla Dr. Roberto Robles both from Brownsville, TX and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home and continue through 9:00 p.m. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Armandos nephews: Carlos Robles, Bobby Robles, Arnold Torres Jr., Raul Garza Jr., Ricky Garza, and Rodney Garza are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved uncle.
Arnold Torres Sr., Raul Garza Sr., Dr. Roberto Robles, Ted Lopez, Joey Torres, and Ivan Torres will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The American Legion Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal will conduct military honors at the graveside.
