Arrie Nuna B. "Bea" Cromack

Arrie Nuna B Bea Cromack, 95, of Brownsville, died at home on May 22, 2012. She was born January 28, 1917 in Leesville, Louisiana.

Bea is preceded in death by her parents, Charles B. and Nuna S. McCollister her husband, Kermit Cromack two brothers, Leon T. Estelle and Charles B. McCollister Jr. and a grandson, Matthew Edward Cromack.

Bea is survived by six children: Kermit Angeline Cromack, Jr., Ellen A. Achim C. Gerb, Karen F. Jorge Pea, Kim D. Cromack, Katherine E. Gray B. Jolink, Kevin Mary Cromack ten grandchildren: Kevin T. Cromack, Karen Patricia Pea, Jorge K.Leyla Pea, Lucas H. Purvis, Georgia A. Jolink, Willa E. Jolink, Tatum A. Jolink, Jessie P. Cromack, Kimberly B. Cromack, Kelly A. Cromack and three greatgrandchildren: Alexa, Andrea, and Jorge A. Pea. She is also survived by a sisterinlaw, Marietta V. McCollister, and several nieces and nephews: Charles H. McCollister, John T. Kim McCollister, Nancy Charles Henson, Dan Bonnie Cromack, John Robert Barbee Cromack and Dr. William H. Masako Cromack.

Bea moved to Brownsville in 1936, where she worked as secretary to the Chief Pilot of Pan American Airways Headquarters in Brownsville for several years. During her employment with Pan American, Bea had the opportunity to meet Charles Lindbergh. On December 23, 1938, she married Kermit Cromack.

Bea was a member of Church of the Advent, Episcopal and active in St. Margarets Guild at Advent. Bea and Kermit owned and managed Los Amigos Trailer Park from 1965 to 1990 where they enjoyed attending Winter Texan events, both at Los Amigos and other venues. Bea made many lasting friendships with the Winter Texans who stayed at Los Amigos, and with whom she stayed in touch over the years. Bea and Kermit loved going to events at the Gladys Porter Zoo, especially the annual Zoofari, where they met celebrities like Betty White and Jimmy Stewart. Bea enjoyed cooking, water aerobics, and was an early advocate of the healing powers of aloe vera and other aspects of healthy living.

The Cromack family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Peeter Kaiv for his wonderful humor and support, Griselda Gonzalez, Martha Sanchez, Herlinda Cervantes, and Dora Lopez for their compassionate home care of Bea, and Safe Haven Home Hospice for the dedicated care and support they provided to Bea and her family. Special thanks are extended to Juan Segovia for his faithful years with Bea at Los Amigos Trailer Park.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Advent, 104 W. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville, Texas, on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a private burial service at Buena Vista Cemetery in Brownsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Advent or a charity of choice.
