aligncenterA Good and Honorable Life
Arturo A. Senteno, 77, loving father and grandfather, devoted husband, and honest friend entered into the glory of his eternal host on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen with his daughters at his side.
He was born to Trinidad and Maria Luisa Senteno in Brownsville, Texas on September 22, 1931. A dedicated learner, his respect for education began as a boy and stayed with him through his life--a value he instilled in his children. He attended St. Joseph Academy in Brownsville and Texas AI in Kingsville. He was a US Army veteran, and took great pride in having served his country during the Korean War.
An active businessman in the greater Brownsville-Harlingen area, he was the co-owner of Mont Meta Cemetery Corporation of San Benito, Restlawn Memorial Park of La Feria, and Combes Cemetery from 1974-1985. After selling his part of the business, he traded in his business suit for an inspectors uniform and quickly became a respected member of the U. S. Immigration and Naturalization Service at the Brownsville and Hidalgo Ports of Entry until his retirement.
Senteno was a dedicated member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church of Harlingen where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was also member of the St. Anthony Serra Club and served the Club as its president. An active Rotarian, Senteno never missed a Club meeting in the years of his membership from 1974-1986.
His devotion to his family and commitment to the community left him little time to pursue his interests in hunting and fishing, yet he always managed to find time to enjoy his great love of music.
Mr. Senteno was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Aracelia G. Senteno; his parents. Trinidad and Maria Luisa Senteno; 3 sisters: Porfiria Ramrez, Ignacia Olvera, and Aurora Castillo; and 2 brothers: Genaro and Alfredo Senteno.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory are his four beloved daughters: Mary Alice and her husband Gary Lambert, Sylvia Senteno, Belinda Senteno, and Lisa Senteno; the two grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Russell and his wife Claire Lambert and Holly Lambert. He will also be great missed by his brothers and sisters: Antonia Simonette, Anita Mike Uribe, Amelia Lupe Padron, Alfonso Elia Senteno, and Gilberto Frances Senteno.
