Barbara Ruth Sprague-Wallace

Mrs. Barbara Ruth SpragueWallace, 80 of Brownsville, TX and formerly of Paris, IL, passed away peacefully at Valley Baptist Medical Center on Saturday, February 2, 2013, with her family at her bedside.

Barbara was born in Marshall, IN, to Frederick and Ruth Sprague. She was married to Robert L. Bob Wallace on Dec. 31, 1952, in Paris, IL. They spent 60 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, motherinlaw, sister, sisterinlaw, grandmother, aunt, and a very close friend to many.

She spent many years in various office and bookkeeping positions not only in Paris, but also in the Rio Grande Valley, most recently working in the office of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville. Barbara not only loved her family and friends, she also loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all her heart. This was not only evident in her service to the Lord, but in the fact that she shared it daily with her family, friends, and all the lives she touched. She stated in her last few days, I have no regrets, and judging by the mark she left on the lives of others, she was absolutely right.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Frederick, mother Ruth, and brotherinlaw, George T. Fowler.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Bob and sons, Dirk Patricia, Lee Mary, and Joe Wallace. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Low Fowler of Carmel, IN, Jill Phil Parrinello of Sterling Heights, MI, and a sisterinlaw, Sis Buck Hiatt of Paris, IL. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Hope Wallace and Jessica Wallace of Paris Christopher Ashley Wallace of Crosby, TX, Patricia Wallace of The Woodlands, TX, and A.J. Wallace and Katie Wallace both of Harlingen, TX and three greatgrandchildren. She also left her loving and spiritual mark in the minds and hearts of five nieces, four nephews, and numerous Great and GreatGreat nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville for sixteen years, and was an active member of the P.E.O. Sorority.

At Barbaras request there will be no funeral services. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, 450 Palm Blvd., Brownsville, Texas.
