Mrs. Basilia Espinoza Garcia, 89, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Villa Aldama, Nuevo Leon. She lived in San Benito, Texas for many years where she attended Guadalupe Catholic School and was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. In 1940, she moved to H. Matamoros, Tamps. where she resided for six years. She then returned to Brownsville, where she lived for the rest of her life. Basilia was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by two children: Lupita and Pedrito; her father, Merced Cordova Espinoza on May 18, 1967; her mother, Gumesinda Perez Espinoza on June 8, 1975; her sisters, Esperanza E. Jimenez on Aug. 26, 1996, Dominga E. Aguirre on Aug. 22, 2000, , and Francis E. Parra on May 6, 2008.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her husband of 60 years Luis Garza Garcia; five daughters: Petra E. Cano from Salinas, CA, Lydia E. Garcia, Alicia E. Garcia, and Maria Leticia Garcia all from Brownsville, TX, Laura G. Robinson from Augusta, GA; 2 sons, Luis E. Garcia Jr. and Ricardo E. Garcia both from Brownsville. She will also be missed by her 3 sisters: Candelaria E. Lopez and Margarita E. Balboa both from Brownsville, and Petra E. Alaniz from Wasco, CA; two brothers, Francisco Espinoza from Richgrove, CA and Felix P. Espinoza from Brownsville; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and cousins.

Visitation will begin at begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Friday evening. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral followed by interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to Odyssey Hospice and especially to Natalia Bradley her caregiver for the past two years for the excellent care provided to their mother.
