Ben Edelstein went to heaven to be with his parents and sisters on August 22, 2009.

He was born to Morris and Yetta Edelstein on December 14th, 1925. Raised in Brownsville, Texas, he attended Texas AM University until he joined the Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Ben returned to Harlingen, Texas where he was married to Sharlene Gerrick and raised three children: Steve, Sheryl, and Morris Edelstein. Ben helped to build Edelsteins Better Furniture and worked there until he passed on. He will be remembered for his friendship, generosity, and humor.

Ben is survived by his two sons: Steve JoAn and Morris Patricia; his daughter, Sheryl Shane Noon; his grandchildren: Hannah, Zachary, Riley, Cody, Nathan Daniel, Jeremy, Lucas, Shane, and Phillip; two brothers: Ruben Bernice and Arthur Eunice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Burial will follow at The Hebrew Cemetery. The American Legion Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal will be providing military honors at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, Bens family is requesting that memorial gifts in his name be made to the Edelstein Endowment at UTBTSC Office of Development, 80 Fort Brown, Brownsville, Texas 78520, 956 548-8708.
