Bernice Bunny Clarine Fulfer, 91, of Hot Springs, AR, formerly of Brownsville, TX and Neosho, MO, died on May 1, 2011 in Hot Springs, AR after battling Multiple Myeloma for several months.
Bernice was born in Dover, AR to H.O. and Anna May Moore. When she was 6 she moved to the Brownsville, TX area with her family where she lived for more than 60 years. She was married to the love of her life, Claude J. Fulfer on August 31, 1935. They raised 2 daughters, Janette Marie Fulfer and Wanda Mae Fulfer Cope.
Bernice was a wonderful homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and sewed many beautiful gowns for her daughters and passed this talent to Wanda. She also took good care of Janette who developed Diabetes at the age of 7. When illness caused the need, she went to work outside the home at age 30 for Southwestern Bell, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. She moved to Neosho, MO in 1994, to be closer to family where she lived until 2 years ago when she moved to Hot Springs, AR with her daughter, Wanda, to again be closer to family.
Bernice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was a lively funloving lady who was always ready to go anywhere Her grandchildren called her Go Go Granny. She liked to travel as long as she was able and loved todo crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She was an excellent cook and tacos were always a good excuse for a party Her grandchildren will never forget the many trips to the beach and hunting for seashells. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Mae Fulfer Cope and 3 grandchildren and their spouses: Laura and Andy Langham, Mustang, OK, Julia and Tim Togami, Hot Springs, AR, and Eric and Geri Cope, Kirkwood, MO. She also has 5 greatgrandchildren: Nichole Morris and spouse Robert, Gabrielle Langham, Carissa Togami, Benjamin Cope, Everlie Cope, and Delaney Cope, and one greatgreatgranddaughter born on her 90th birthday, Sadie Marie Morris. Bernice has one brotherinlaw, Arnold Fox of Harlingen, TX and many loved nieces and nephews across the country including: May Anne McGraw, Jerry Moore, Jim Singleton, Darlene Peffer, and Diane Wallace.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Claude J. Fulfer on February 18, 1970 and her daughter, Janette Marie Fulfer on February 12, 1960. Her parents and one brother, Garland Moore, and 3 sisters: Inez Nichols, Myrtle Singleton, and Hazel Frazier also preceded her in death.
There will be a visitation from 9 am to 11am on Wednesday, May 4th at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville, TX.
