Betty Jean Frausto

Our beautiful loving Betty was called to be with Our Lord in heaven on October 3, 2009. She was 73 years old. She passed away while living at her second home, Ebony Lake Health Care Center in Brownsville.

Everyone knew that Betty was the foundation, the pillar, and rock of her family. She was a true devout Catholic and faithful wife to her husband of 53 years, Jimmy. She was extremely proud of her four daughters: Diana, Cindy, Lynda, and Neissa. She was overjoyed when her grandchildren: Eric, Megan, and William were born and then again when her three great-grandchildren: Sabrina, Eric Jr., and Alex were born.

Betty touched so many lives with her passion for life. She dedicated her life to her family. With the loving support of Jimmy and her daughters, Betty went back to college to earn a teaching degree. She loved going to college and her favorite subjects were English and History. She went on to receive certifications in Bilingual and Special Education. She continued going to college and received a Masters Degree in Education graduating Magna Cum Laude. All of her family members are so proud of her many accomplish-ments.

Betty taught at Egly Elementary for many years before becoming a Special Education Supervisor for the B.I.S.D. At her familys urging, Betty retired from the B.I.S. D. in 2005, and shortly thereafter, Jimmy retired as well.

Both of them settled in and began to enjoy the life of retirement. Then, sadly, on July 10, 2006, Betty suffered a brain-stem stroke and she slipped into a coma from which she never recovered. This abruptly and forever changed her familys lives. Jimmy faithfully stayed by Bettys side every morning until late in the afternoon. Her family, relatives, and close friends were also often at her side.

There has been no greater blessing than the love Betty so selflessly extended to those around her. As an extraordinary educator, she forever enriched the lives of thousands of students. As a warm, generous, thoughtful, and caring friend she was always ready to extend a helping hand. As a mother, she was a mothers mother always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To know Betty was to love Betty.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Reney, Sr. and Marie Haggstrom Reney; her three brothers: Raymond, Frank Jr., and John Reney; and her two sisters: Jennie Cotham and Mabel Mendez.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy; four daughters: Diana and Neissa Frausto of Brownsville, Cindy William Bill III Rountree of San Benito, and Lynda Scardino of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren: Eric Pineda of Houston, and Megan and William Rountree, IV of San Benito; her great-grandchildren: Sabrina, Eric Jr., and Alex Pineda of Houston; her brothers, Charles Reney of Utah, Michael Reney of New York, and Joseph Olga Reney of Brownsville; her sisters: Annie Alfredo Medina and Rosie Garcia of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser and continue until 9 p.m. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. this evening at Darling-Mouser. The Mass of Christian resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Ave. Internment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Rountree, IV, Eric Lee Pineda, Joseph Reney, State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., Harris Buddy Falgout, and Jake Falgout.
