Blanca Cavazos Garcia

Blanca Cavazos Garcia, 68, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life after a valiant battle against cancer on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility in Olmito, TX, surrounded by her loving family

Blanca was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. At 18, she married her soul mate, Tomas Garcia and when their three children were all in school Blanca herself returned to school to obtain her Bachelors Degree. Blanca then started a teaching career with the BISD that would span 30 years as a Special Education teacher working with autistic children at both Perez and Southmost Elementary Schools.

Blanca was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was the epitome of being a lady. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and even through her illness she was always there to support her family. Blanca was a woman of deep faith and it was that faith in Our Lord that helped sustain the past eight years as she struggled with her illness. That faith was evident in the fact that she had a Bible Study Prayer Group for the past ten years.

Blanca had an outstanding sense of humor and a quick wit. It was always a joy to be around her and she truly was the life of the party. Blanca was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Blanca was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Abigail Cavazos and a brother, Tomas Cavazos Jr.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her husband of 50 years, Tomas Garcia, the three children she adored: Adrianna Laura Justis, Mark Edward Gracie Garcia, and Carlos Alberto Jennifer Garcia the grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Austin Justis, Parker Justis, Briana Garcia, Harrison Justis, Alessandra Garcia, Reagan Justis, and Thomas Garcia her brothers and sisters: Corina Jesus Zavaleta, Gloria Brooks, Alfredo Fred Laura Cavazos, Richard Irma Cavazos, and Magda Hugo Rodriguez numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other extended family members.

In accordance with Blancas wishes she was cremated. The family will begin to receive friends at 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service celebrating her life scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21st in the East Chapel at DarlingMouse Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Blancas name may be made to Sunshine Haven, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, TX 78523.
