Captain Konstantinos "Kostas" D Bournakis

Captain Konstantinos D. Bournakis, 59, beloved husband, father, son, brother, brotherinlaw, uncle, and friend, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, November 1, 2010 while at sea onboard the MV Star Sigma.

Kostas, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was born in Piraeus, Greece on May 21, 1951. His job brought him to Brownsville in 1976, where he would meet Rosario Reyna, the love of his life, and whom he would share 32 years with. After their marriage in 1978, Kostas became a resident of Brownsville, Texas.

Captain Bournakis loved the sea, and that passion for the sea is what led him to a life as a Merchant Marine for the past 30 years.

Kostas will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.

Kostas was preceded in death by his father, Dikeos Demetrios Bournakis.

Left to eternally treasure his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Rosario Reyna de Bournakis the 2 daughters that were the apple of his eye: Maria Leontini Bournakis and Athena Eleni Bournakis his mother, Maria Bournakis his stepfather, Konstantinos Alexopoulos a brother, Athanasios D. Bournakis his sisterinlaw, Adelaida Franco 4 brothersinlaw: Ramn, Felipe, Jos Angel, and Ricardo Reyna numerous nieces and nephews and many friends all over the world.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 8th at Mary Mother of the Church Parish with the recitation of the holy rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Msgr. Martin Guerrero will officiate the Mass of Christian Resurrection at 7 p.m. Monday evening. In keeping with Captain Bournakis upbringing, their will be a Greek Orthodox service at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9th in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Samir Ajam, Rogelio Cardenas, Hermelindo Castillo, Fausto Martinez, Oscar Pia, Ricardo Reyna, Alberto Rodriguez, and Martn Sarks are honored to be serving as Kostas pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Athanasios D. Bournakis, Mixalis Kastis, and Carlos Durn.
