Carlos Jose Acevedo, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June, 26, 2010 at the age of 61.

Born October 13, 1948 in Laredo, Texas, Carlos was the first born son of Carlos Jose and Ana Maria Acevedo. His family moved to Brownsville in 1960 where he attended Central Jr. High School and went on to complete the ROTC program and graduate from Brownsville High School in 1967 with honors. He was an alumnus of Texas AI University in Kingsville, graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and the Kings Rifle Drill Team. After graduating from AI, Carlos served in the US Army Reserve and rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant before his honorable discharge in 1979. He was employed by Southwestern Bell as a Communications Consultant before becoming the first Executive Director of 911 for the Cameron County Emergency Communications District CCECD on December 1, 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Jose Acevedo and Ana Maria Beyette Acevedo.

Carlos left behind to eternally treasure his memory his children: Carlos Ivan Acevedo from San Antonio, Ana Rosella Acevedo from North Carolina, Amalia, Victoria, and Vianella Acevedo all from Brownsville and a grandson Spencer Kraus from North Carolina his siblings, Ana Lee Windham from San Antonio, Luis Daniel Sharon Acevedo from Dallas, Linda Alan Gielen from Garden Ridge, Texas, and Christina R. Juan Carlos AcevedoGomez, from Los Fresnos, Texas his nieces and nephews, Daniel and Mitchell Acevedo from Dallas, Christopher Windham from Columbus, Ohio, Juan Carlos, Cristian Alejandro, and Sophia Christina Gomez from Los Fresnos, Texas and an aunt, Alicia A. Dolansky from Brownsville, Texas and numerous other relatives.

As per his wishes, Carlos was cremated and a Memorial rosary service will be held, on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 6 p.m. at the DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 56 p.m. Military honors will be conducted prior to the rosary service under the direction of the American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard.
