Carmen G. Davila, 91, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Carmen was a native and a lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was Carmen to her friends but to her family she was "Mama Carmen", a woman who opened her home to everyone and who loved spending time with family and friends. Carmen was a devout Catholic and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Sacred Heart of Mary Court #2448. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Carmen was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Andres Davila; her parents, Maria and Hilario Gonzalez; and her siblings: Celia Parra, Luis, Pete, Alfredo, and Hilario Gonzalez Jr.
Carmen is survived by her children: Miguel "Mike" (Cristina) Gonzalez, Graciela Crews, David (Vicky) Davila, Mary Ann (Jesse) Barreda, and Andres "Andy" (Toni) Davila Jr., 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a sister, Cristela "Cristy" Gonzalez Garcia and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2th, 2017, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3rd, 2017, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Carmen's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Drs. Imperial, Hussain, Sultan, and Karkoutly for the kindness and compassion with which they ministered to her during her illness. A special thank you goes out as well to the Nurses and Staff in the ICU and PCU at VRMC for all you did for Carmen while she was under your care.
Carmen's grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. The rest of Carmen's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
