Carmen Conejo Garcia

OLMITO, TX. – Carmen Conejo Garcia, 85, of Olmito, Texas went home to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, the 2nd of October 2024.

Carmen was born on April 23, 1939 and as a gifted seamstress she created not just clothing but cherished memories. Her talent for sewing was only rivaled by her deep love and appreciation for her plant nursery which she filled with flourishing plants and flowers.

A devout Catholic, Carmen had an enduring devotion to St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless causes, and she often shared her faith with those around her. She would often make a pilgrimage to La Virgen de San Juan, where she found solace and strength. Carmen also participated in the formation of Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church from its start as Santa Ana Mission as one of its original parishioners. Her steadfast faith was a source of comfort not only to her but also to the lives she touched.

Preceding Carmen in death are her husband, Jose Dario Garcia; her son, Jose Dario Garcia Jr; her parents, Jose Cruz Conejo and Inocencia Flores Conejo; and her siblings Santiago, Antonio, Joaquin Conejo, Delfino Cornejo, and Daniel Conejo.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cira Lugo (Gabe), and son, Diego Garcia (Esmer); her grandchildren Amanda Garcia, Christina Garcia (Leo), Catherine Lugo, Diego Garcia Jr., Christopher Lugo, Michael Garcia (Xeanii), and Alyssa Garcia; her great-grandchildren Kaydie, Melenie, Sophia, Austin, and Zachary Garcia; her siblings Sara C. Torres, Leo Conejo, and Ismael Cornejo; and all of her nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, the 6th of October 2024 between the hours of four o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Sunday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 7th of October 2023 at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church, 9178 Tomas Cortez Jr Street, Olmito. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at La Palma Cemetery, Alton Gloor Boulevard, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be Diego Garcia Jr., Christopher Lugo, Michael Garcia, Leo Rivas, Adrian Conejo, and Delfino Cornejo Jr.
