Colleen H. Bannert, 83, passed away at her residence on Monday, November 17, 2008. She was born in Brownsvilleon April 16, 1925, to Fred and Winnie Smith.
Colleen was lifetime resident of Brownsville. She attended El Jardin School, graduating from Brownsville High School. She briefly worked for Alamo Freight Lines local office. She met William Bannart and married in 1947. She took great pleasure in her yard and flowers. She raised two sons, Ronald and John, taking care of her home and her husband William.
Colleen had accepted Christ as her personal Savior and Lord and walked through life with Him, her constant companion, safe in His loving arms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Winnie Smith, sister, Virginia Brown, brothers, Donald, Neil and Jim Smith; dearest friend, Sarita Vicars.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William F. Bannert, her children, Johnny E. Bannert and his wife Julie and Ronnie E. Bannert; her grandchildren, Brandon, Joshua, Adam, and Sierra; several nieces and nephews and her caregivers, Lupita Chavez, Carmen, Rosie and Sandra.
In lieu of flowers, Colleens family requests that donations by made to the Alzheimers Association, Rio Grande Valley Region, Alzheimers Association Star Chapter, 222 E. Van Buren 303, Harlingen, Texas 78550 or to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave., Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091.
