Consuelo Champion Hinojosa

Consuelo C. Hinojosa, 93, of Brownsville, TX, has gone to join her husband and son in heaven on May 3, 2010. She was at Valley Baptist Medical Center, where her passing was peaceful.
Consuelo was born on July 19, 1916 in Brownsville TX. She was a life long resident of Brownsville Texas and lived in Corpus Christi for 26 year before returning to the Valley. She attended schools in Brownsville, later marrying Ramn Hinojosa. Early on Consuelo and her husband owned and operated Brownsville Taxi. While in Corpus Christi, Consuelo was an active member of the Septer and Propeller Clubs. Her greatest enjoyment was in cooking and baking where she shared new ideas and recipes with friends and daughters. She always looked forward to her annual Tamale party gathering, where friends and family would gather to share this event. She shared very special times with her children and husband at Garcias in Matamoros and at Valley International County Club. These times will surely be missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hinojosa a son, Robert Bobby Hinojosa her sisters, Celia Samano and Lilly Weimer her brother, Ernest Champion a grandson, Christopher French a granddaughter, Kerri French and two sonsinlaw, Carl Thompson and Jim French.
Consuelo is survived by her son, Raymond Patricia Hinojosa of Brownsville three daughters: Frances Thompson of Keller, TX, Mercedes French formerly of McAllen, TX and now residing in San Antonio, TX, Margaret John Rodriguez and Carmen Cruz HinojosaMorin of Corpus Christi, TX one brother, Tony Rachel Champion of Houston, TX. grandchildren include, Ray Victoria Hinojosa and Chris Kim Thompson of Round Rock, TX, John Tracie Rodriguez and Sean Kathy Rodriguez of Corpus Christ, TX, Carl Thompson and Cindy Darin Miller of Keller, TX, Catherine Matt Stephen of San Antonio, TX, and Lanell Hinojosa of Brownsville, TX and sixteen greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday May 6, 2010 with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Darling Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Friday May 7, 2010, at 9 a.m. with Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church Brownsville, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Hinojosa, John Rodriguez, Sean Rodriguez, Chris Thompson, Carl Thompson, and Cruz Morin.
