Consuelo Leal Lucio, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Lucio was a native and lifetime Brownsville resident. She was an active member of our community. She was employed by CWCCP for 43 years as a Social Service Worker, where she enjoyed serving her community. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luis Lucio, parents Ysidro and Matilde Leal. She is survived by her 10 children: Jose Luis (Mayda) Lucio, Maria "Tencha" (Manuel) Mancha, Martha Estella Saavedra, Perla Irma (Juan) Garza, Emma Enedina (Victor) Rodriguez, George Adalberto (Thelma) Lucio, Manuel Enrique (Yolanda) Lucio, Norma Sylvia (Daniel) Jasso, Samuel Esteban (Norma) Lucio and Patricia Anna (Joel) Zamora; 33 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ramon G. Leal (Esmeralda+), Manuel G. Leal (Lucky+) and Juan Fermin Leal (Chita), and one sister, Arminda (Merced) Burnias.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1900 Barnard.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Lucio, Ramon Mancha, Antonio Saavedra III, Juan A Garza, Jr., Victor Rodriguez, Jr., Ysidro Lucio, Manuel Lucio, Jr., Daniel Jasso III, Jose Luis Lucio and Joel Zamora, Jr.
A very special thank you to her caretaker Evangelina Molina, Dr. Lorenzo Pelly and the doctors at the Heart Institute of Brownsville.
Mrs. Lucio's request was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to St. Thomas Catholic Church.
