BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Cornelio Cardenas Renteria entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, the 21st of October 2020 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of eighty-five.
Cornelio was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a brother, and friend and will always be remembered for the kindness he expressed to others. He was a hardworking, simplistic family man. Cornelio loved to cook, especially barbequing, and enjoyed gardening outdoors and watching boxing matches on TV. He will be greatly missed by all of those fortunate enough to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria M. Renteria; his parents, Andres and Guadalupe Cardenas Renteria; a grandson, Guillermo Lyne; and by his brothers, Jose Renteria (Inez +) and Andres Renteria, and sisters Isabel Renteria and Guadalupe Villela (Jose +).
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children Guillermo Lyne (Carmen), Margaret Lyne, Miguel Lyne (Irma), Elizabeth Pena (Alfonso), Rosie Milan (Daniel), Cornelio Renteria, Jr. (Jessica), and Esmeralda Castaneda (Jorge); nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; siblings Roberto Renteria (Maria Elena), Jesus Hector Renteria (Juana), Amelia Renteria, Rosalva Renteria, and Rebecca Renteria; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 27th of October 2020 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and six o'clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at six o'clock Monday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Chapel Service will be held at twelve noon on Tuesday, the 28th of October 2020 within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Interment will follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
Kindly note, due to COVID social distancing protocols currently in place, seating is limited within the funeral home. Current guidelines and regulations will be adhered to and strictly mandated in addition to the requirement of a face mask that must be worn at all times within the funeral home.
