Cristina C. Dominguez, 81, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, December 06, 2008, at her daughters residence surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Harlingen, Grandma Tito as she was affectionately known to all had been a resident of Brownsville for many years.
She was a woman who was devoted to her family and her church. She was a devout Catholic and a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years. She served her Church loyally and faithfully serving as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, Leader of the Altar servers, and member of the Club del Sagrado Corazon where she held various offices.
Cristina was the first to hold prayer meetings at different homes. She attended the 8 a.m. daily Mass where she was The Choir. She prayed the rosary daily and was a rosary leader on many occasions for rosary services. When she was not working at Church, she enjoyed crocheting and during the Easter season made dozens of cascarrones that were distributed to the children in the CCD classes at Church. She would also make Lenten crosses that were distributed to all the parishioners at Our Lady of Guadalupe. After her husbands retirement they both enjoyed making an annual trip to Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death and has now joined her beloved husband of 60 years, Manuel Dominguez Jr. who passed away 8 months ago; her son, Narciso Dominguez, her sister, Simona Lopez, and her brother, Eugenio Calderon.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her children: Martha D. Francisco Garcia, Gloria Eddie Gomez, and Luis Candy Dominguez; her daughter-in-law, Letty Dominguez; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She will also be dearly missed by her two sisters: Enriqueta Moreno and Ignacia Tello, her brother, Trinidad Calderon Jr., and her numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Sunday, December 7, 2008 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. this evening. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Stephen Dominguez, Luis Dominguez Jr., Manuel Manny Dominguez, Narciso Dominguez, Francisco Frankie Garcia III, and Manuel Manuelito Dominguez are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
