Cruz Vsquez Garcia, 83, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home.
A native of San Fernando Tamps., Mexico, Cruz had been a resident of Brownsville for over 50 years. He was a successful self-employed businessman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Enriqueta C. Vsquez; his daughter, Rosa Esther Vsquez; his parents, Cruz Rosa Garcia Vsquez; his brother, Gilberto Vsquez; and by a sister, Natividad Vsquez Garcia.
Left behind to eternally cherish his memory are his children: Gloria V. Gilberto Guajardo, Lauro C. Lindie Vsquez, Maria Elena Mark Sowders, Emmanuel Manny Diana Vsquez, Rosalva Pascual Jr. Rodriguez, and Josu David Terrie Vazquez; the grandchildren that were his proud and joy; Jonathan Brooke Rodriguez, Alberto Belalcazar, Apolina Vasquez, Kristal Guajardo, Lance Vasquez, Gilberto Guajardo Jr., Danny Rodriguez, Laura Belalcazar, and Veronika Vsquez; and two twin great-grandsons: Antonio Daniel and Benjamin Tomas Rodriguez. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters: Lydia Gracia and Francisca Gracia and by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held yesterday, February 14, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will be from at 9 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2009, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Templo Emmanuel, 845 West Levee St. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Lauro C. Vsquez, Emmanuel Vsquez, Josu David Vsquez, Pascual Rodrguez Jr., Mark Sowders, and Gilberto Guajardo Jr. are honored to be serving as Cruzs pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Rodriguez, Alberto Belalcazar, Daniel Rodriguez, Lance Carlos Vsquez, Antonio Daniel Rodriguez and Benjamin Tomas Rodriguez.
The Vasquez family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. M.A. Molinas, all the Staff at Spanish Meadows, and Odyssey Hospice for their patience and assistance in caring for their beloved father.
Thank you Dad. You have left us an everlasting example of how faith in God gives you strength.
