Some of us are called to our Heavenly Father without notice. I, by the grace of God was given the opportunity to write my last words and say good-bye to my family and friends. Crystal Ostos, 60, beloved wife, daughter, sister, step-mother, and sister-in-law, peacefully moved on from this world to be with God on August 9, 2008 at her home in Arroyo City with her loving family by her side.
She was born on March 21, 1948 in Webster, Massachusetts, and resided in Quadic, Connecticut until the age of 25 when she chose South Texas to be her new home. She married the love of her life, Richard Lee Ostos, Jr. and always said that he taught her everything she knew. With no former experience, she learned to love and enjoy hunting and fishing along with her partner and spouse.
Her mother, Rachel Rawson Bennett of Comfort, Texas predeceased her in 1992 of colon cancer.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her beloved husband, Richard L. Ostos Jr.; her father, Albert Tremblay; her brother, Roger Tremblay and his wife Thelma Grenier; her step-daughters, Kelly Ostos and her husband Alejandro Villalobos and their children, Alexia, Richard, and Carla; Melani Ostos and her husband Hector Gonzalez and their children, Stefan and Rachel; her father-in-law, Richard L.Ostos Sr.; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Patricia O. and her husband Jab Murray, Daniel A. and his wife Sylvia Ostos, Robert A. and his wife Nancy Ostos, and Anne O. and her husband Brad McCumber; and her best friends forever, Norman and Celeste Guimont. She will also be deeply missed by her numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Her lung cancer began in 2005 and she fought it. By August 2006, the tumor was gone. In March of 2007, treatments began anew for brain and lymph nodes. She was fully at peace and wants everyone to smile when they think of her.
As per her wishes, Crystal was cremated and a Memorial Service celebrating her life and the burial of her remains will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, Crystal's family is requesting that memorial gifts in her name be made to Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, TX 78523 or the Humane Society, 1106 Markowsky St., Harlingen, TX 78550.
Crystals family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Todd Shenkenberg and his staff for the utmost care, consideration, compassion, and quality friendships during her illness. The family also wants to thank her caregiver Elizabeth Liza Banda for her care and devotion to Crystal.
