Cynthia Hagood

Cynthia Rasco Hagood (Cyndie) left us for heaven early Sunday morning, May 29, 2022, at Solara Specialty Hospital at the age of 73.

Cyndie was born in Brownsville in 1949, to Merlin and Thelma Rasco. She attended Brownsville schools and graduated with honors from Brownsville High School in 1967. In January 1968, she and Raymond Hagood were married and moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston. She graduated from U of H with an Elementary Education Degree.

After returning to Brownsville, Cyndie worked at Pan American Bank for several years. There she made many friends in the customers she served and fellow bank employees.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, Kevin and Brian Graham. Cyndie will be lovingly missed by her husband, Raymond; her sister, Beverly and her husband Rockie, and her brother Merlin and his wife Norma. Also missing her will be her nephew Joseph Graham, cousins, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Cyndie loved God and the churches she attended. She served as a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, board member, and in food distributions, and loved to assist the elderly wherever she saw a need. She also served as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Brownsville Seafarers Center at the Port of Brownsville serving visiting seafarers at the Port.

Cyndie loved! She dearly loved her husband of 54 years, her family, her precious friends, her cats, and she loved Brownsville! We give thanks to God for her life and the loving contributions she made to other's lives in her quiet, gentle way.

Dr. Steve Dorman of First Baptist Church, Brownsville, will officiate services. Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2nd, at First Baptist Church, 1600 Boca Chica Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78520.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Cynthia Hagood’s name to First Baptist School, 1600 Boca Chica Blvd., Brownsville, TX 78520.
