Daniel Ruben Guerrero, 67, a devoted husband, loving father and dedicated friend entered eternal life on Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on September 30, 1944 to his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Homero Guerrero.
Daniel served as a Staff Sargeant in the US Army during the 1960s.
Daniel was a graduate of the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas where he earned his bachelors degree in elementary and secondary education. He earned his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Pan American University in 1981.
Daniel taught elementary, middle and high school in Harlingen ISD and Brownsville ISD. His passion was teaching history and math. He served as an administrator at Egly and Longoria Elementary Schools. He retired from BISD in 2002 after devoting 34 years to education.
Daniel was a devoted friend and generous man, who never hesitated to place himself second to anyone needing help. He had a deep devotion to both his immediate and extended families. Daniel was the one you could depend on do what was best for others. His sense of humour endeared him to all he met.
His memory will be cherished by his dedicated wife of 40 years, Cristina Guerrero his eldest daughter: Celina and her husband, Jonathan Garza, MD, his granddaughtersTallulah, Philippa and Georgiana his youngest daughter Celeste and her husband Jeffrey Harris and his grandsonTheodore. He is survived by his siblings: his sister Mary de la Garza Lupe from Long Beach, California and his brother Hector Guerrero Carolina from Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 9:00pm with a rosary service at 7:00pm on Tuesday, May 15 at DarlingMouser Funeral Home East chapel. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, May 16 with the mass of Christian Resurrection at 10:00 am. at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville,TX 78521. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Military Honors to be conducted by American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Garza, Jeff Harris, Julio Martinez, Benjamin Rodriguez, Ruben Rodriguez and Craig Timmer. Honorary Pallbearers are Angel Martinez, Sergio Martinez, and Lupe de la Garza.
