BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Darlene Syring Pace entered the sweet hereafter on Friday, the 23rd of December 2022, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Melanie Ostos Gonzalez, and dear friend, Diana Gonzalez Kelley. She was seventy-seven years of age.

She was known as Deedee to friends, Deenie to family, Na to the younger generation, and Momma to Melanie and Hector, but always Darlene to her beloved husband James W. Pace Jr. who paved the way for her only six months ago. Darlene is also joining her mother, Vera James Rackley; father, Ferdinand Arthur Syring; sister, Jody Syring Reddout; brother, Fred Allen Syring; and grandson, Antony Pace Farias.

Darlene's son-in-law, Hector E. Gonzalez, and her step-children Kelly Ostos Villalobos (Alexandro), Suzanne Pace Farias (Ricardo), James W. Pace III, Sarah Pace, and Rebecca Pace, were loved as her own. Her grandchildren Stefan Marin Gonzalez (Madison Naquin), Rachel Grace Gonzalez, and Deanna E. Smith were her greatest source of happiness, along with her great-grandchildren, Julian Grey Gonzalez and Olivia Rose Gonzalez, who shares her birthday.

She will also be missed by her nieces, Dana Reddout Abegg (John) and Lacey Atkinson Martinez (Aaron); her nephews, Mark A. Reddout (Jody) and Richard D. Reddout (Nelda); her cousins Barbara, Joyce, and Nita; and so many more extended family members and dear friends.

Darlene lived life like a party. She was real, exciting, and so much fun. She loved to sing, tell stories, and make people laugh. She's left behind so many beautiful memories and taught her family the importance of kindness, compassion, and love.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and will be announced once scheduled.
