David Joel Frapart

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - David Joel Frapart passed away in Houston, Texas, on Monday, the 31st of March 2025 of living his life his way!

He was born in San Benito, Texas at Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital on December 29, 1954 to Sarah Dorfman and Ralph Frapart. “Pepe” was the favorite of the three boys, to their mother Sarah and nanny Chole. He used that coddling to his benefit and got his older brothers in trouble!

David went on to hold many jobs in retail settings but mainly to support his three loves: Surfing, Sailing and Scuba. He was a Master Diver and Instructor, and earned his Captains license. He went on many adventures from Cuba to Roatan, around the Gulf of Mexico before his health limited his abilities.

David also had the musical ear of a virtuoso. He could pick up any instrument and was playing a song in a few minutes. He never got classical training other than piano lessons from his mother, but picked up Country, Folk and Blues and played in bands around the Clear Lake and Kemah area where he lived.

A quick wit, he was always one for a joke or a story. Even to the end he kept his nurses smiling with good and bad jokes and with compliments. Everyone loved Pepe or Dave and he will be missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Sarah Frapart.

He is survived by his two brothers, Jules Frapart (Phyllis) and Ross Frapart (Myra); his two nieces, Janna Sneider (Jonathan) and Adrienne Cohen (Robert); his two twin nephews, Sam (Stephanie) and Joel; as well as by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and by his uncle, Lewis Frapart.

Graveside services will be held at ten o' clock in the morning on Sunday, the 6th of April 2025 at the Hebrew Cemetery, located at the corner of 2nd and E. Madison Streets in Brownsville, where David will be interred alongside many members of his family.
