PORT ISABEL/RANCHO VIEJO, TX. – David F. Miller, of Port Isabel and Rancho Viejo, Texas, retired entrepreneur, passed away on Sunday, the 9th of July 2023, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas at the age of eighty-six. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas F. Miller; his parents, Orley F. Miller and Margaret H. Miller; and by his sister, Marilyn Scott.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Berta J. Miller; his children, Patricia Pinkerton (William) and Gregory Miller (Monica); his grandchildren Thomas Eugene, Justin, Kaitlyn, Desiree, Bree, Brigitte, Kristen, David, and Lauren; his six great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog and companion, Schatzie. Additionally, he had a loving extended family in Nebraska and Germany along with veteran friends.
He was born in Monroe, Nebraska on February 23, 1937, and joined the U.S. Air Force upon graduating from high school. He was stationed in Simmern Hunsruck, Germany at Hahn Air Base where he met and married his soulmate. Living most of his later years in Port Isabel, Texas, he was a member of Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a community businessman. He was a man of many talents who loved God, his family, and his country immensely. He will be dearly missed.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 21st of July 2023 at Our Lady, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria Street, Port Isabel. Inurnment with military honors will follow at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission.
In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
