David Walton Wilhite passed away at his home in Bayview on the morning of Tuesday, October 26, 2010, age the age of 59 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Buda, Texas to Jane and Gayle Wilhite on May 16th, 1951.
David was the founder and CEO of South Texas Woodmill, member and pastPresident of the Texas Architectural Woodwork Institute, Elder of Destiny Fellowship Brownsville, and a member of the Rotary Club since 1995, and sat on the board of Bayview Irrigation District. In recent years, he also enjoyed competitive team penning and sorting.
David is survived by his wife and best friend, Monica Marie Shipley Wilhite three sons: Christopher Michael Wilhite and spouse LoriAnn Lima, Kevin David Wilhite and Mikah Sean Wilhite two grandchildren: Liliana and Caetano his parents, Jane and Gayle Wilhite two brothers: Wayne Wilhite and wife Janice Adams and Gary Wilhite and wife Patty two sisters: Sally Morris and husband Coy and Carol du Bois and husband Ted and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 28th in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. We ask that everyone meet at The Vineyard, 1200 MacIntosh St., in Brownsville at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service on Friday, October 29th. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 30th in Creedmoor, Texas at Carl Cemetery.
David asked that in lieu of flowers, people make donations to the Burning Man Ministries House of Prayer, 3226 Coffee Port Road, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Donations can also be made online at www.burningmanministries.org.
