Debbie KerrMusso passed away on December 4, 2011. Debbie was born in Midland, TX on December 14, 1951 and after much traveling her family settled in Corpus Christ, Texas.

She graduated from Del Mar where received a degree in Hotel Management.

While in Brownsville, she worked for the Fort Brown Resaca Club for 4 years overseeing the club and restaurant operations and banquets and catering for the resort before going to work for the Gladys Porter Zoo. Debbie was a dedicated employee at the Gladys Porter Zoo for 22 years, overseeing banquets, catering, and concessions for the zoo.
Her many years of service were a testament to her love for animals she loved her Yorkies, her Chihuahuas, and many other pets over the years.

Debbie was a longtime member of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce. Her years of service to the Chamber included chairing the Bienvenidos Committee which welcomes new businesses to Brownsville. It was under her term as Chairwoman, that the committee began the tradition of presenting handmade Bienvenidos plaques to new members which can be seen displayed at so many businesses in Brownsville today. It was also under her term, that the Chamber established the Diamond Ball as the annual fundraiser which is now in its 12th year.

Debbie was also a longtime member of the Brownsville Elks Lodge. She was one of the first women ever to be initiated as a member into the Order and served on the House and other committees for several years. She could be found there frequently, especially during football season and was very active in all events, especially those raising funds for children and community causes.

Debbie was also a longtime active Officer with Sombrero Festival and is best known at the festival for her many years of service as VicePresident for Cookoff events where she headed up Frijolympics and established the annual Chili Cookoff for Sombrero Festival.

Debbie is preceded in death by her father, John C. Stone her brother, Jody Stone and a nephew, Matthew Powers.

She is survived by her husband, David P. Musso a daughter, Karen Kerr Clements, of The Woodlands a son, Johnny Musso her mother, Billie Jean Stone, of Corpus Christi her brother, Don Stone, of Idaho and her sister, Sally Stone Brown, of Woodville, TX.

The Elks Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Brownsville Elks Lodge, 2223 Central Blvd., Brownsville, TX. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm Blvd., Brownsville, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations in Debbies name be made to Sunshine Haven, P. O. Box 4478, Brownsville, Texas 78523 or to the American Cancer Society.
