Dolores Alvear passed quietly on Friday, August 14, 2015, from complications due to Parkinson's Disease.

Dolores, a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, was the daughter of Enrique Alvear and Esperanza Cisneros Rodriguez and the granddaughter of Dionicio and Barbara Alvear and Julio and Porfiria Cisnseros. Dolores was a very dedicated volunteer with the Hanna High School Band Parents Association and with several elementary drill teams in the BISD. Dolores was always willing to help children stay involved in school activities.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and two sisters: Estela Alvear and Ana Maria Rodriguez.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Roberto Zepeda; a daughter, Yvonne Garcia Solis; the grandson that was the joy of her life, Brandon Rodriguez; three sisters: Barbara (Jesse) Alvear-Soto and Gloria Covarrubias, both from San Antonio and Juanita Rodriguez from Brownsville; three brothers: Henry Alvear of Los Angeles, CA, Alfredo (Yolanda) Rodriguez of Killeen, and Arturo R. (Norma) Rodriguez of Brownsville. Dolores will also be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2015 and continue through 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Thomas Catholic Mission, 155 East Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Roberto Zepeda, Arturo Arevalo, Dean Soto, George Saldaña, Rick Treviño, and Praxedes Piña are honored to be serving as Dolores' pallbearers. Steve Veazey will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Safe Haven Hospice, Oscar Quintero, Juan R. Guerrero, Leo Puga, Griselda Solis, Viviana Peña, and Dr. Paul Albert Lenz for the care and kindness they provided to Dolores. A very special thank you to her dear friends Terri and Anita Zepeda.
