Donaciana H. "Chanita" Torres

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Mrs. Donaciana H. “Chanita” Torres, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, the 20th of April 2022 at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. She was ninety-four years of age.

Donaciana, affectionately known as Chanita, was born in McAllen, Texas on September 6, 1927, daughter of Santos and Beatriz Jaramillo Herebia. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for many years where she volunteered numerous hours working rummage sales and participated in Bingo activities. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo whenever she had the opportunity to do so, but most of all, Donaciana loved spending time with her beloved daughters, her grandchildren and her great-grandson who was the apple of her eye, Fabian. She especially enjoyed her daughters visits which brought so much joy and comfort to her. Celebrating her birthday parties that her grandchildren put together was always so special to her.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Francisco Torres; her parents, Santos and Beatriz Herebia; and her brothers, Clemente Herebia and Guadalupe Herebia.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Mary Alice Rodriguez (Albert) and Silvia Taylor; her grandchildren, Mark Anthony Rodriguez (Cynthia Vargas) and Melissa Mendiola (Luis); her great-grandson, Fabian Arturo Rodriguez and his mother Miriam Rodriguez; Daniel Mendiola and Matt Vargas; and her sisters Licha Corpos (Santos+), Rafaela Vento (Manuel), Maria de los Santos (Casimiro Melendez), Juana Gonzalez (Silvestre+), and Maria de Jesus Ruiz (Rodolfo). She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family members.
