Dr. Rene M. Chavez

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Dr. Rene M. Chavez, D.C. entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 4th of December 2020 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of eighty-three.

Dr. Chavez attended the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa where he completed and received his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 1969. Dr. Chavez completed his 51st year of medical practice this year. Aside from his profession, he was also passionate about God, church, and his family. A Godly man, he was an Elder at the Church of Christ in Brownsville for many years. He was also a family man, devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Dr. Chavez will always be remembered as an outgoing and authentic individual. He truly was the epitome of humility.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Chavez; and by his parents, Feliciano and Verula A. Chavez.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Rebeca P. Chavez; their children Cassandra Powell (Dr. Thomas Powell), Mark Chavez, and Aldo Chavez (Katie); and grandchildren David Powell (Shanleigh), Jenna Powell, Danielle Powell, Gabriel Chavez, Max Chavez, and Dylan Chavez. He is also survived by three brothers, three sisters, and numerous extended family members.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 8th of December 2020 between the hours of three o’clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The family requests all funeral service attendees meet directly at the Church of Christ. The Funeral Service will be held at twelve noon on Wednesday, the 9th of December 2020 at the Church of Christ, 2434 E. Price Road, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526 at two o’clock in the afternoon.

Honored to be serving as pallbearers are Mel Garcia, Omar Ortiz, Sr., Dr. Thomas Powell, David Powell, Max Chavez, and Dylan Chavez. Keith DeSantis and Israel Rodriguez will serve as honorary pallbearers.
