E. "Steve" Stephen Gomez

Ernest Stephen Steve Gomez, 49, beloved husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Monday, January 28, 2008, surrounded by his loving family.

Steve was born in Brownsville, TX on May 22, 1958, as the first son, to Ernesto and Rosario Gomez bringing the family much pride and joy.

Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Anastacio and Aurora Gomez and his maternal grandparents, Antonio and Tomasita S. Orive.

Left to cherish his memory and all the milestones of his life are his beloved wife of twenty years, Sherrie Gomez, his parents, Ernesto and Rosario Gomez, a brother, J.A. Jay Gomez, his sisters, Mary Ellen Ventura and Laurie Robinson, his mother-in-law, Francisca Gilbert, his brothers-in-law, John and Danny Gilbert and many other relatives and friends. Steve was a long-time resident of South Padre Island, yet he never lost contact with his many friends world-wide.

Steve graduated from Homer Hanna High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Business and Marketing at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He established himself as a top salesman and created his own niche in real estate. As a lover of people this was his perfect opportunity to positively impact the lives of those God put in his path. Steve acquired his Real Estate Brokers license and started and built Steve Gomez Associates Real Estate Brokerage, a successful enterprise located on South Padre Island, TX. Steve was a treasured friend to many. He was always ready to welcome new arrivals to the island, as evidenced by the many appreciative friends who were at the receiving end of his gracious hospitality. Steve found great joy in helping new island residents become acquainted with the many perks of island life.

Among the sports, he enjoyed surfing, traveling, tennis,
ing, and fishing. He and Sherrie traveled extensively in Mexico and Latin America, spreading good-humor and cheer wherever they went. Steve often said, That people should enjoy themselves when they are young and work when theyre old

We will all miss Steve and his ever-ready friendly smile and caring ways.
