Earl Vaughn Tyler

Earl Vaughn Tyler died at 89 years old on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Brownsville, Texas due to Parkinson's complications. Earl was born on October 4, 1929 in Tanglewood, Lee County, Texas. He was married to Ella Dean Franks Tyler for 50 years. He grew up in Austin Texas and upon graduation from High School joined the Marines. He was deployed to Korea. Earl worked for JAG Department where his interest in Law first started. He graduated from University of Texas with a Bachelors and Doctor of Jurisprudence. He, Dean and daughters Rhonda and Rita moved to Brownsville in 1963 where a year later daughter, Rebecca was born. Earl worked for ICEY Aircraft in the early years of the Brownville Airport. His first taste of Title Industry came when he assisted in opening a Title Company. Earl was the go to Attorney when it came to Real Estate.

Earl was an esteemed member of the Texas Bar College, which is an honorary society of lawyers and judges established by the Texas Supreme Court comprising of only about four percent of the total membership of the State Bar of Texas who attend at least double the number of CLE hours per year. Even though he was a humble man, Earl was proud when The State Bar gave him a 50-year award for his legal work and was known as one of the premiere real estate attorneys south of San Antonio. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge. Although he was a relatively shy man and disliked speaking in public, Earl taught Real Estate Law at the college, served on the Cameron County Appraisal Advisory Board, and served Of Counsel for Brownsville South Padre Island Board of Realtors. Earl was a gentleman who understood the importance of doing an honorable job, so there are many realtors and title company employees who respected his keen knowledge and legal mind.

He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He loved Country music, Chili and a good Cuba Libre. Come October, everyone knew a Party at Earls. Always had a theme and it was always a good one.

Earl is survived by his daughters Rhonda Harrington (Jay), Rita Tyler-Aguilar, and Rebecca Tyler all of Brownsville. Grandchildren include Valerie Byers (Daniel), Tyler Harrington, and Paris Aguilar. Sisters Donna Parrish (Dennis) and Betty Shugart; nephews Guy Huddleston (Teresa), Alan Huddleston (Michelle), niece Ruan Huddleston; grand nephews Craig Huddleston and Heath Huddleston (Jill); Cousin Kenneth Boswell. He leaves behind many long-time friends and clients.

Earl is predeceased by his lovely wife Dean Tyler (January 20, 2013); parents Opal and Luther Tyler; sisters Floyce Huddleston and Dorothy Snider.

Memorial service will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Darling Mouser Funeral Home, Brownsville, Texas. Visitation with family at 2:00 with service at 3:00 and story swap to follow. In honor of Mr. Tyler's casual attire and love of the Longhorns, guests are encouraged to wear UT colors, jeans and boots. "Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late." The family would like to thank Mr. Tyler's caregivers at his home then the Rio Nursing Home at Fox Hollow.
