BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Eddie Don Clark, known to us as Don and Dad, died unexpectedly on Saturday, the 14th of September 2024 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of 76.

Don was born on March 7, 1948 in Greenville, Mississippi to Dr. Clarence B. Clark Sr. and Mrs. Gladys Garrett Clark. He attended Sacred Heart School and Coleman High School and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Greenville, Mississippi. He completed undergraduate coursework at Heald College in San Francisco, California and Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi.

Don married Coela Jordan Clark, his high school sweetheart, on March 15, 1974. Together, they made a home in Jackson, Mississippi and welcomed two daughters, Arienne and Tameta, into the world. 

Over the course of his life, Don held a number of different jobs including as an Audio/Video Production Technician for Mississippi Authority for Educational Television (ETV) in Jackson, Mississippi as well as several television production companies in Dallas, Texas including Lyrick Studios/HIT Entertainment where he worked on the team of Barney & Friends. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in cooperation with The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored Don during the 2000-2001 Daytime Emmy Awards for his contributions to the Emmy Award-winning Achievement for Outstanding Achievement in live and direct to tape sound mixing on Barney & Friends.

Don was passionate about learning new things and had many hobbies. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed MIDI music making on his personal computer. He loved a good adventure. He owned a sailboat at one time on which he took his family for overnight trips along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and for day trips on the Pearl River Reservoir near Ridgeland, Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping. He loved convertible automobiles and motorcycles and loved being out on the open road. He was a privately licensed pilot flying sailplanes, gliders, in addition to small engine aircraft. Throughout his life, he was very interested in natural health practices and sourcing quality, organic foods. Don and Coela planted many fruits and vegetables in their backyard garden in Jackson, Mississippi. Don also had a robust hydroponic garden. He was very active into his later years, walking and riding his bicycle almost daily. 

Per his wishes, Don was cremated on Tuesday, the 17th of September 2024. There will be a memorial service scheduled at a future time and date yet to be determined. 

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the emergency department at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas for their efforts and for contacting the family during his final moments. 

Don will be remembered for his curiosity as a lifelong learner in search of knowledge and truth. He is survived by countless family and friends who knew and loved him. He will be missed.
